Greetings Fellow Huskies,
I hope you and your families are safe and handling this pandemic as best you can.
I would like to throw out some ideas about the Shaler High School 50th class Reunion
As many of you know, I am a fan of multiple day/event reunions. My thoughts for the 50th follow that path and possible include a destination.
Here are three options and I would like your feedback. Vote for your favorite, or provide an alternative.
Option 1: 4 days and 3 nights at Seven Springs Resort. Arrive on Thursday. Spend all day Friday and Saturday with classmates. Big banquet Saturday night. Go home on Sunday. Registration would cost between $250 and $350 per person, and lodging @ $111 per night per room, includes tax. Pet-friendly rooms are available for an extra fee. The registration includes breakfast and dinner on Friday and Saturday. If we take this approach, groups can get together for activities such as golf, shooting clays, the Tritium Spa, zip-lining or more. Alternatively, you could hang out at the Hospitality room where snacks will be provided. On the other hand, you could just hang out at the indoor or outdoor pool or go walking or hiking. Check out all that Seven Springs has to offer at https://www.7springs.com/
Seven Springs can support this Thursday, July 15 – Sunday, July 18, 2021
Option 2: Same as Option 1 but the dates are Thursday, July 8 – Sunday, July 11, 2021
Option 3: Same as Option 1 but sometime in August. June weekends are booked already.
Option 4: All day Saturday BBQ at North or South Park. Meet and Greet on Friday and farewell breakfast on Sunday. Same as the last two reunions.
Registration costs might go up or down depending on meal selections, entertainment on Saturday, and total number of attendees. Seven Springs is family oriented so children and grandchildren are invited.
While I see issues with all four options, I believe a 50th Reunion does not come often. Majority wins.
I vote for Option 1.

- Winner of the Harley DavidsonWinner of the Harley DavidsonMarte Yerkins won the 2002 Harley Davidson XL 883R Sportster, (supplied by Maisto ) by correctly identifying the Shaler classmates that were members of the band Optical Illusion.
The contest was tied between Marte Yerkins and Sharon (Michaely) Veatch, both entries correctly identifying the Shaler classmates from the class of 70 and 71. However. Marte went one step further and identified Ron Crawford, who was in our class but moved away before our junior year. Congratulations Marte!!! The prize as it turned out was a die cast toy!!
What Classmates have to say
Jim Kearns just E-mailed me and said the fuse was already lit for the next one........Judy Agnole (Matous)
I was so pleased to see all my good friends from our class and also get reacquainted with ones that I didn't really know 30 some years ago. The boat was a perfect venue and the food was very good. I think I'll contact some classmates that didn't go and tell them of the great time they missed. You know, we really have a great group of people and I wish it were possible to get together more often than every five (or six) years...Marte Yerkins
I didn't see anyone not enjoying themselves Saturday nite. I think it was actually better than high school.......Tom Glatz
Got an e-mail from Fay who suggested we have a mini reunion each year. Ballgame, picnic, etc.......Rick Barie
Anyone who couldn't attend certainly missed a spectacular night. To me, everything was perfect - seeing old friends and renewing so many relationships, the food, the music.......Ginger Worst (Blum)
I had a great time and it was wonderful to see everyone who attended. I have a feeling I missed a few people but it was good talking to the ones that I did see. It was so nice to see and talk to the Middle Road gang and all of those from Lower Glenshaw grade school. Only wish Linda Falcetoni could have been there! Hope to see you all on the mini excursions! You all looked great!!! I do believe we get better as we age!....Jan Walker (Kramer)
Let's have the next one at Hooters!.....Jim Kearns
Thank you to Jim and Judy and everyone who helped plan this reunion. It was a walk down memory lane. We could not have wished for a better evening. Thanks again!........Joyce (Grall) Dayen
I've gotten back to my "real" life in Texas and haven't checked the site in awhile, but I will always cherish the fantastic time I had with everyone at the reunion. It was so great to be back in Pgh. and back with my old friends. It was overwhelming and I will never forget it. Do I need to get a life? NO...I have a great life and this just added something extra special. Thanks everyone! Special thanks to those who made the whole thing possible........ Lisa (Kendrick) Ocheltree

What Classmates have to say
I want to thank each and every one of you for making Saturday a memorial day, it is the ones that were not there that today I am missing most. Thanks to those who made this event happen, to those that came and in the memory of those that have passed, be well and hope to do this again soon. ~Tom Glatz
Wow - What a great bunch of classmates all gathered together in one place. 1971 turned out smart, caring and good-looking grownups who can laugh at and with each other. We are all still young at heart.

It was great seeing old friends again & connecting with fellow Huskies who I really did not get a chance know in high school. Everything about the day was about perfect. I am looking forward to staying in touch until we do this again next year! ~ Denise Hinds
